What do you do at Valve+Meter?
I’m in charge of the daily operation of paid media campaigns, including PPC, lead generators, media buying, etc., and also analysis of V+M’s various campaigns throughout the business so that campaigns can be optimized to generate the best returns for our clients. The types of metrics we take a look at are simple metrics such as leads collected, clicks made, or the more complicated types of metrics like response rate, return on marketing spend and other assorted metrics that we may use to drive our business.
I also manage a team that helps run our email programs, analytics, social marketing and other sales and account management support related tasks.
On top of that, I take out the trash, play fetch with dogs, complain constantly and have self-appointed myself as the office know it all and encyclopedia of past performance. I’m also the office cynic. I exhaust myself…I can’t imagine what I do to my co-workers.
Tell us about your background and experience
I’ve worked in a variety of roles throughout my career, primarily focused on report creation/analysis and digital marketing. My jack-of-all-trades history helps me fill gaps throughout the organization, so that we can keep moving and growing without having to stop to find different people to perform the variety of tasks that we encounter. Examples of this include making changes to websites, reading financial statements and preparing analyses, looking at mail response rates and writing ad and blog copy. About the only thing I can’t be is graphically creative, although I am quite proficient with Microsoft Paint.
What is it about you that makes you uniquely positioned to excel in your role?
I think my background and experience gives me a unique perspective on my role and my position in the company. Some people are just marketers and some people are just finance people. Blending the two gives me a different sounding voice at every table that I sit in because I can see issues from both sides, as marketing is a constant give and take between the marketing and finance realms.
What are some of your interests and hobbies outside of work?
I am a television, movies, books and sports enthusiast. I’m also the inventor of the Triangle of Job Success (patent pending).
